5th Place Finish in Indianapolis
July 27, 2014
After a strong run at the Chicagoland Speedway, Matt Tifft and the Ken Schrader racing team headed off to Lucas Oil Raceway, just outside of downtown Indianapolis. Matt would pilot the #11 OTMDistrubuting.com/Federated Auto Parts Chevy, as he raced along side with Ken Schrader in the #52 machine.
After early struggles in practice, crew chief Phillip Bell worked on the car to make wholesale adjustments going into Friday night’s race. After qualifying 9th, Tifft ran consistently in the top 10, until a great pit stop put the #11 team in the 4th position on a restart about a quarter way into the race. With a bold 3-wide move, Tifft took the lead and went on to pace the field before getting passed by the #90 of Grant Enfinger.
After suffering a left rear tire going flat in the final run of the race, Matt Tifft and crew went on to finish in the 5th position, holding off John Wes Townley for the second consecutive top five in ARCA Racing Series competition.
Next week, the team heads off to Pocono Raceway in the #52 Federated Auto Parts Chevy in Long Pond, Pennsylvania, where the team ran very strongly in June before a late crash took them out of competition.
