Rally to top 10 in Virginia
After several months of ARCA Racing Series competition, Matt returned with the BJ McLeod Motorsports team at the Virginia Int’l Raceway road course in NASCAR K&N Pro Series East competition. After starting in the 14th position, Matt moved up to 9th place at the time of the halfway break. Shortly there after, an incident in turn 2 sent Matt straight on into the tire barriers. Luckily, with minimal damage, the team was able to make repairs, but would be forced to restart in the 18th position.
After several more incidents on track with other cars crashing, as well as a few Matt and the team were involved in, the checkered flag flew with Matt finishing in the 6th position. Although the car was battered, it was a great team effort led by BJ McLeod and crew chief Phillip Bell to return to a competitive state, and get a great finish out of what looked to be a bad day.
Matt returns to ARCA competition with the Ken Schrader Racing team next weekend at Madison Int’l Raceway in Oregon, Wisconsin. The race will be broadcast live on CBS Sports Network
