Successful Return to Marshfield
Matt and the Iron Eagle Racing/Tim Schendel team returned this weekend to the Marshfield (WI) Motor Speedway where Matt had his first Super Late Model race and where he achieved his first two stock car wins.
The event was the very competitive ASA Midwest Tour, Marshfield 100. After qualifying a very satisfying fifth position, Matt stated that he thought he could have had fast time. The car bottomed out a couple of times, but overall he felt the car was really good and was excited to see what he could to in the main event. That statement proved to be very true in the race. He started 10th due to the inversion of the field and in the early stages, and fell back to 13th as the car was set up for the long run and to be quick at the end of the race. As expected, at the end of the race the car came alive was the fastest car on the track and Matt ended up with his career best ASA Midwest finish of Sixth.
The end result was that Matt maintained the lead in the Rookie of the Year Point Standings, and moved up one postion to 7th in the overall standings.
The next race will be Matt’s longest to date, the World Crown 300 at Gresham Motorsports Park on July 4th. He will then return to Marshfield to run the Yellow River Series race July 14th, then back to the next race on the ASA Midwest Tour on July 20th at Grundy (IL) Speedway.
